Greening the Financial System: Financing for Sustainable Growth and Development

25 February 2016, 9.00AM – 6.00PM

About this Event

Join the Global Financial Markets Association, and our symposium partner, the Green Finance Committee (GFC) of the China Society for Finance and Banking under The People’s Bank of China’s (PBOC), on February 25th in Shanghai for “Greening the Financial System: Financing for Sustainable Growth and Development.” This unique symposium will convene business leaders, public officials and experts to expand public and private sector understanding, support and collaboration for the creation of a green financial system, and to discuss the broad linkages found between the emerging and developed countries in exploring new opportunities in this critical area.

Following the adoption of the “Paris Agreement,” China’s G20 presidency presents an optimal platform to continue the international initiative towards expanding green finance both locally and globally. In December 2015, the People’s Bank of China announced a policy related to the issuance of green bonds which would accelerate green finance locally. Through collaborative global efforts and policies that facilitate uptake of green finance activity, we can improve the capacity of capital markets to channel investment to green industries. Developing this capacity is essential to meet our common goal of financing sustainable and green growth.
